There’s still no official release date, but excitement around SSMB29 continues to grow. Even without a title, the film — directed by S.S. Rajamouli and starring Mahesh Babu — is already being seen as a global cinematic event.

Fans and even casual moviegoers are confident that the film will shatter box-office records whenever it hits theaters.

Currently, the shoot is on pause. Mahesh Babu is vacationing with his family in Sri Lanka, while Priyanka Chopra, rumored to be part of the cast, is spending time with her family in the Bahamas.

Meanwhile, Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the film’s primary antagonist, is busy promoting his upcoming web series Sarzameen, set to premiere on JioHotstar.

During the promotional campaign, Prithviraj offered an exciting glimpse into SSMB29. He hinted that the film is being crafted on a scale that Indian cinema has never witnessed before.

He praised Rajamouli’s vision and revealed that his character in this project could potentially turn out better than his memorable role in Salaar, which was widely appreciated.

Known for embracing complex or negative roles when the writing excites him, Prithviraj reportedly agreed to this role without any hesitation after hearing the concept.

The production had originally planned to shoot in Kenya, but due to the current instability in the region, the Africa schedule has been postponed.

The team is now eyeing an August shoot, with key sequences involving wildlife and dense forest backdrops. If that plan faces further delays, the crew will begin filming in Ramoji Film City, on a specially constructed set designed to replicate Varanasi.

Rajamouli is reportedly targeting a March 2027 release. With such a long-term vision, the director is said to be meticulously planning each schedule and stage of production.
