Puri Jagan’s Card Against Government

There is a talk that Puri Jagannadh glorifies things like stalking girls in the name of love and portraying drinking and smoking as heroism. When asked the same in a recent interview, Puri blamed the government for not banning smoking but putting up regulations on using smoking and drinking scenes in films.

“When government is allowing drinking and smoking for the sake of revenue, why rub on us (filmmakers)?” asks the director. In fact, Kalyam Ram‘s role as a journalist doesn’t have the habit of smoking. But we have seen him smoking along with Jagapathi Babu in the trailer. Puri says, he would use ‘Cigarette Smoking and Alcohol Consumption are Injurious to Heath’ tag and also add ‘Government Must Ban Them’. That really looks like a good idea.

When asked why to glorify smoking showing heroes smoking on screen when the impact would be great on the audiences, especially fans, Puri thinks that a person who doesn’t drink or smoke will not learn from films. Only others who already do that continue it. Do you also agree with him?
