
The 70th Filmfare Awards South ceremony was held in Kochi on Saturday night with grand celebrations, and Telugu cinema had a dominant presence.
The biggest winner of the night was Pushpa 2: The Rule. The film swept several major awards, underlining its strong box office run and wide popularity.
Allu Arjun won the Best Actor award for his performance in Pushpa 2. Director Sukumar took home the Best Director trophy for the same film. Pushpa 2 also won Best Film and Best Music Album, making it the clear standout of the evening.
Nivetha Thomas received the Best Actress award for 35: Chinna Katha Kaadu.
Among other major wins, Amitabh Bachchan won Best Supporting Actor for Kalki 2898 AD, while Anjali secured Best Supporting Actress for Gangs of Godavari.
The debut categories also saw fresh talent being recognised. Yadu Vamsi won Best Debut Director for Committee Kurrollu. Sandeep Saroj and Nayan Sarika won Best Debut Actor and Best Debut Actress respectively for Committee Kurrollu and Gam Gam Ganesha.
In the music section, Ramajogayya Sastry won Best Lyrics for “Chuttamalle Chuttesthondi” from Devara. Sri Krishna won Best Male Singer for “Kurchi Madathapetti” from Guntur Kaaram, while Shilpa Rao won Best Female Singer for “Chuttamalle.”
Production design awards were shared between Kalki 2898 AD and Pushpa 2, and Sekhar Master won Best Choreography for “Kurchi Madathapetti.”
In the Critics category, Lucky Baskhar won Best Film. Teja Sajja won Best Actor Critics, and Kajal Aggarwal won Best Actress Critics for Satyabhama.
Overall, Pushpa 2 dominated the awards night, reinforcing its impact not just at the box office but also on the awards stage. The ceremony celebrated both commercial blockbusters and critically appreciated films, making it a memorable night for Telugu cinema.
