Allu Arjun’s highly anticipated Pushpa 2 will be released in various high-end formats like IMAX, 3D, Dolby, D-Box, ICE, and 4DX on December 5. However, there’s a lot of debate going on about the decision to release it in IMAX.
Many feel that Indian directors don’t fully understand the concept of IMAX. Since Pushpa 2 wasn’t shot using IMAX cameras, people are questioning how it will work in IMAX—some even joking that it might just be cropped for the format.
This has led to claims that the release is just a way to make more money.
Pushpa 2 is a typical commercial entertainer with plenty of heroism and such films usually don’t need a grand format like IMAX, 3D, or 4DX.
While Allu Arjun fans are eager to see their idol in such a large-scale presentation, many on social media see it as a cash-grab scam just to boost ticket prices and box office revenue.
Ticket prices for Pushpa 2 in these formats are expected to rise sharply, reaching 500-700 rupees in India, and even higher in the US, with some tickets priced at $35 or more.
Some Hollywood fans are frustrated that Nolan’s Interstellar is not getting an IMAX re-release in India in December because Pushpa 2 is all set to grab the IMAX screens.
The decision to release Pushpa 2 in these high-end formats has met with mixed reactions.
