Pushpa 2 was always going to be one of the most memorable films for Allu Arjun who spent nearly 3 years on this film.
In accordance with this, the box office performance of the second part of Pushpa has been remarkable to say the least.
While the film did not necessarily set all time records in the domestic Telugu box office, it went supremely well in the Hindi belt. It reportedly collected over $29 million overseas, which is another substantial feat.
While Allu Arjun might be happy with the box office side of things, there is also a tail effect of Pushpa 2 which will have a detrimental effect on him.
The kind of negative publicity that the Sandhya theatre incident gave Allu Arjun and Pushpa 2 is unprecedented in Tollywood.
The narrative about a woman getting killed due to a stampede in the theatre during Pushpa 2 screening and the subsequent commentary on the same is not what anyone even remotely expected before the release.
As said by Allu Arjun himself, he is unable to comprehend what is happening now. After delivering a humongous blockbuster, Bunny would’ve been hoping to enjoy this success to the fullest.
But he got deprived of the same with an extremely unfortunate incident that has landed him in a legal mess and pushed a lot of negative press in his direction.
Though Tollywood stars enjoy huge public images, they’re not necessarily versed with dealing with such highly complex and supremely volatile situations in real life. So, Allu Arjun essentially had to do face something that none of his contemporaries did.
With the box office success on one side and the Sandhya theater issue on the other, Pushpa 2 must surely be a story that blew both ways for Allu Arjun.
