PVR INOX posts strong FY27 profit

PVR INOX has witnessed a strong financial turnaround in the first quarter of FY27.

It reported a profit after tax of ₹56.5 crore compared to a loss of ₹54 crore during the same period last year.

The multiplex chain also recorded a 10.4% rise in consolidated revenue, which increased to ₹1,622.2 crore from ₹1,469 crore a year ago.

The company’s improved performance comes amid a strong recovery in India’s theatrical business, with the overall box office growing 20% year-on-year during the quarter.

A diverse mix of Hindi, regional and Hollywood films helped bring audiences back to cinemas and boost revenue.

PVR INOX credited its growth to a strong content lineup across languages. Hindi films including Bhoot Bangla, Cocktail 2 and Main Wapas Aunga performed well.

Regional cinema also contributed significantly with films such as Raja Shivaji, Drishyam 3 and Karuppu. Hollywood releases like Project Hail Mary, Michael and Obsession further supported cinema footfalls.

The company recorded 36.6 million admissions during the quarter, reflecting an 8% annual increase.

Average Ticket Price rose by 8% to ₹273, while Spend Per Head increased 9% to ₹161.

Food and beverage revenue grew by 17%, while ticket revenue increased 16% compared to the previous year.

PVR INOX also reported a major improvement in profitability, with EBITDA rising 90% to ₹229.6 crore and margins expanding from 8.2% to 14%.

The company achieved another milestone by becoming net cash positive, with ₹80.7 crore in net cash as of June 30, 2026.

PVR INOX Managing Director Ajay Bijli said the company’s operational performance improved across key areas and highlighted the importance of a strong content pipeline and customer approach.

Following the announcement, PVR INOX shares climbed 5.5% to ₹1,047.85 on the Bombay Stock Exchange. The latest results signal a promising recovery phase for India’s cinema exhibition industry.
