PVR Inox’s recent initiative of offering discounted tickets has sparked controversy, with some feeling that it discriminates against South Indian audiences.
On ‘Cinema Lovers Day’ this Friday, February 23, 2024, movie enthusiasts can enjoy their favorite releases at PVR INOX cinemas for just Rs 99. The lineup includes both Indian and Hollywood films. Additionally, there are discounts for premium formats like recliner seats and IMAX.
The Rs 99 offer is not valid in Telugu states, which has upset many in AP/TS. They argue that such exclusionary practices are unfair and have expressed their displeasure on social media, calling for a boycott of PVR Inox.
This isn’t the first time such issues have arisen. Previously, PVR Inox introduced a movie pass priced at Rs 699, allowing viewers to watch 10 films per month on weekdays, but this offer was not extended to South Indian states.
Overall, PVR Inox’s recent actions have stirred controversy and drawn attention to the perceived divide between North and South Indian cinema audiences.
