Raashii Khanna may have just landed the opportunity she has been waiting for. She has bagged an important role in Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Dharman, directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. While Simran is said to be playing the primary female lead, sources suggest Raashii’s character will also have significant importance in the narrative.
Raashii Khanna has been searching for a proper career-defining success for quite some time now. While she remains popular and continues to get projects across multiple industries, the momentum she once enjoyed has gradually slowed down.
In Telugu cinema, her last clear commercial success as a leading heroine was Prati Roju Pandage back in 2019. Since then, several projects have arrived, but none have significantly elevated her career.
Tamil films like Thiruchitrambalam, Aranmanai 3, and Aranmanai 4 were decent successes at the box office, but audiences largely remember those films for Dhanush, the franchise brand, or the overall content rather than Raashii’s contribution.
The situation was not much different on OTT either.
Farzi received good appreciation and became one of the biggest streaming successes in India. However, Raashii’s role was relatively limited compared to the attention received by Shahid Kapoor and Vijay Sethupathi.
Other OTT outings such as Rudra and the recent Lukkhe failed badly.
Even her last big-screen outing, Ustaad Bhagat Singh opposite Pawan Kalyan, ended up becoming a box-office disappointment.
That is why Dharman feels important.
Sharing screen space with Rajinikanth automatically brings visibility that very few projects can offer. However, simply appearing in a Rajinikanth film does not guarantee a comeback.
Many actresses have appeared alongside superstars only to discover that audiences remember the hero and forget everyone else. For Dharman to truly help Raashii, her character must leave a lasting impact rather than exist merely as part of the supporting cast.
The good news for Raashii is that she also has another interesting project in the pipeline. She is reportedly part of the Hindi remake of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam opposite Akshay Kumar, directed by Anees Bazmee and produced by Dil Raju.
Together, these projects could potentially give her career the boost it needs.
