Big Star’s Production Upset with Fake Collections

This Pongal, it was the clash between Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ and Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’ in Tamil Nadu. It was a visual treat for the fans to have two big releases for the festival season and both the movies are having a good run at the box-office. However, while ‘Petta’ is having an upper hand in the overseas, Ajith is dominating the box-office in Tamil Nadu.

Fans are upset over the box-office trackers and therefore, even the production house requested them to ignore them calling fake propaganda. The production house says that when they didn’t yet receive the official numbers from the 600+ theatres across Tamil Nadu, how the trackers are confidently tweeting the box-office figures of ‘Petta’ in Tamil Nadu. So, they requested fans not to fall prey to fake propaganda.

In Tamil Nadu, the fan-wars always go to the next level and many times turn murky. Fake collections and fake propaganda become the order of the day when a star hero’s movie is in the theatres. Unlike the US box-office result where the tracking system is quite reliable, there is no reliable tracking system in the South Film Industry and therefore, fans fight over claiming that, others are faking collections.
