Social media was recently flooded with claims that Tollywood actresses Rakul Preet Singh, Samantha, and Tamannaah were registered as voters in the Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad. The news spread quickly and caused confusion among locals.
However, the Election Commission clarified that the reports are fake. Officials said someone is deliberately circulating false information and have filed a complaint with the police, who are now investigating.
Election authorities are checking if fake voter slips were created using the names of these film stars. The issue began after BRS leader K. T. Rama Rao alleged that several fake and duplicate names were added to the Jubilee Hills voter list, blaming the ruling party for the irregularities.
The Election Commission responded that the names shared online were part of old records and not newly added. Officials explained that some residential complexes have multiple flats, which can result in several voters being listed under the same address.
The verification process is still underway. Authorities confirmed that strict action will be taken if anyone is found guilty of tampering with voter data or spreading misinformation.
