Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh reunite in De De Pyaar De 2, the sequel to their 2019 romantic comedy about age-gap love. The first film earned praise for its humour and performances but was criticised for a predictable script and family drama.

This time, the story flips perspective. Instead of Ashish’s family reacting to his unconventional relationship, the film follows Ashish as he meets the family of his younger girlfriend Ayesha. This reversal opens space for humour and new social commentary.
If done well, it could offer freshness and balance. But if it repeats the earlier conflicts, it risks feeling stale. The challenge lies in finding emotional depth while keeping the fun intact.
The cast lineup adds excitement, featuring R. Madhavan, Jaaved Jaaferi, Meezaan Jafri, Gautami Kapoor, and Ishita Dutta alongside the returning leads. Their mix of energy and experience could strengthen the film’s comedy and drama.
For Rakul Preet Singh, this project is vital. She hasn’t had a major box-office success in nearly six years, either in Hindi or South cinema. De De Pyaar De 2 could redefine her trajectory—if her role gets the depth and space it deserves.
The sequel’s success will depend on more than nostalgia. It needs sharper writing, stronger character arcs, and emotional honesty to prove that this story still has something meaningful to say.
