Ramayana Trolled: Bigger Trouble Awaits AA-Atlee Film?

Ramayana’s teaser, starring Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti and instantly went viral across social media platforms.

The much-awaited glimpse generated massive reactions within hours of release, clocking millions of views and signaling the film’s huge anticipation. Fans particularly praised Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Ram. However, the teaser has also triggered a wave of trolling.

While some viewers appreciated the scale and ambition, others pointed out noticeable flaws in the visual effects. Several social media users felt that certain VFX shots looked artificial and lacked depth, especially considering the film’s reported Rs.4000 crore budget. Comparisons with Adipurush were also seen.

A section of the audience even noticed that some sequences appeared AI generated, describing them as “flat” and “game like” rather than cinematic. Scenes involving natural environments like forests and waterfalls received backlash for lacking realism. A few users also expressed disappointment over the absence of powerful, goosebumps inducing moments in the teaser.

Interestingly, this reaction has also sparked discussion about other big budget films, especially Allu Arjun’s next with Atlee. If a film like Ramayana, whose teaser is decent and nothing outright bad, is facing this level of trolling, then expectations around Allu Arjun’s upcoming project with Atlee are even more intense. That sci-fi entertainer, reportedly mounted on Rs.800 crores, is already under the microscope.

Atlee, in particular, often faces trolling for lack of originality. Because of that perception, whenever the teaser or glimpse of his Allu Arjun film drops, there is a strong chance it will be heavily scrutinized, trolled, and minutely compared to Hollywood and Indian films. Many film buffs will compare scenes shown in the teaser with other movies in the sci fi genre and declare Atlee is a copycat.

Even if the technical quality is strong, doubts around Atlee’s originality are likely to dominate the conversation. So, Atlee needs to come up with something out of this world to impress his haters, who are already waiting to pounce on him.
