Rashmika Finally Sheds ‘Routine’ Acts!

Rashmika Mandanna is one of the frontline choices for mainstream Telugu biggies of late. Her last film, Pushpa: The Rise was a pan-India biggie and the actress has set sight on Bollywood now. But if we take a look at Rashmika’s recent filmography after she became a star heroine – Saileru Neekevvaru, Bheeshma, Karthi’s Sulthan, she has mostly been doing routine commercial roles. Though she did a slightly different role in Pushpa, she is yet to challenge herself in an author backed role.

However, Rashmika appears to have taken a detour of sorts with her upcoming untitled Telugu film, which has Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. Marking Rashmika’s birthday today, the makers dropped a surprise, announcing that Rashmika will be seen in an important role in the film. This was kept under the wraps all the while.

In the glimpse video, Rashmika is seen as a Kashmiri lady, Afreen. She is seen wearing a red hijab and walking in front of a burning car. She has evidently picked a peculiar role, and this is a welcome change as she has mostly been doing commercial heroine roles of late.

Rashmika’s character introduction video shows her in an action-oriented avatar. It would be interesting to see what Rashmika has in store for us in this war backdrop film which is directed by Hanu Raghavapudi. The film is produced by Ashwini Dutt and Priyanka Dutt under Swapna Cinema, while Vyjayanthi Movies presents it.
