RRR is the biggest box office blockbuster post the pandemic. The big event film pulled the audience to theatres in big numbers. Likewise, it is better suited to pull the OTT audience following its OTT premieres. Needless to say, RRR’s OTT partners, ZEE5, and Netflix will reap the benefits of the same.
ZEE5 has bagged the Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada language digital streaming rights of the film and Netflix owns the Hindi digital streaming rights.
RRR is promoted as a visual extravaganza and the hype surrounding the film is for real. The film is likely to carry the positive reverberation it garnered following its theatrical debut onto its OTT premieres. Meaning, all the publicity and positive word of mouth will fetch very good viewership for the film after it premieres on ZEE5 and Netflix.
ZEE5 and Netflix might also be promoting RRR as their cornerstone film and looks to expand their footprint in the regional OTT space with the Rajamouli directorial.
But the thing is that RRR might not be arriving on OTT for at least 10 weeks from its theatrical debut, so ZEE5 and Netflix will have to orchestrate a whirlwind promotional campaign in order to rejuvenate the hype surrounding the film just ahead of its OTT debut.
