Animal Gadar 2Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal was slated to release during the Independence Day weekend this year. It was the strongest film with the highest potential among all the releases scheduled. But due to some lame reason, Animal has been postponed to December, which is already heavily crowded.

Now the Independence Day weekend clash is going to be between Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 and Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. Despite being sequels to highly successful films, the hype for these two films is not very encouraging.

Gadar 2 is the sequel to one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema, but the sequel doesn’t look too promising. The trailer, which was released a few hours ago, received an extremely mixed response. The film looks outdated with B-grade production values.

OMG 2 is stuck with the censors as it is based on sex education and allegedly promotes an LGBTQ agenda. The censor board has suggested 20+ cuts and an adults-only certificate.

Akshay Kumar is using all his clout and contacts to make the movie pass without any major cuts and a U/A certificate. But after the Adipurush and Oppenheimer fiascos, the censor board is extra careful about not hurting Hindu sentiments. So they are being very strict.

The trailer of the film hasn’t been released yet, and the promotions haven’t started either. There is a chance of the film getting postponed if it doesn’t clear the censors in the next 2–3 days.

The Independence Day weekend is considered one of the most lucrative periods for the movie business in India. If Animal had been released on August 11, as it was decided earlier, it would have reaped the maximum benefits, as both Gadar 2 and OMG 2’s box office prospects look bleak.
