Sankranthi showdown – the lowdown!

After all the build up here we have all the films running in cinemas with respective talks. So how have the films fared in its opening and what’s in store for them ahead based on the reviews and word of mouth ahead. Let’s take a look.

Clearly the film leading the Sankranthi clash is the one that arrived at the last, Soggade Chinni Nayana. This Nagarjuna starrer is literally a Sankranthi treat as we mentioned in our review. Even the word of mouth is extremely strong on the film and people are seen flocking to theaters to catch a glimpse of Bangarraju on big screen.

Following SCN are two films Nannaku Prematho and Dictator. Both the films have found audience that is mutually exclusive to each other despite the core fan base remaining the same. While urban audiences have lapped Tarak in his new avatar as we suggested in our review, fans of Balakrishna stayed strongly behind Dictator (check out our review). This split can be seen in revenues too with the smaller mass centers behind one film and overseas and A centers behind another.

Finally Express Raja is the second choice for all these audience, more so in urban areas. Youth is the driving force and this film too is doing reasonably well (Review). All in all more than 100 Cr of combined business is expected to be generated this Sankranthi.
