Director Shankar’s I has released worldwide yesterday after a massively built pre release hype. The result is that it has created a bang that has left many speechless, especially the trade in Telugu. Shankar has finally given the answer to who the number 1 is in dubbing market and how!
Shankar’s I released yesterday sharing screens with Telugu film Gopala Gopala. Critically too in Telugu it got disappointing reviews. And yet despite the negativities the film has stunned the trade by getting the biggest opening ever for a dubbing film beating the previous best by huge margin. In fact it’s bigger than openings some of our big stars like Allu Arjun and Prabhas have got so far.
All the questions regarding the biggest brand in dubbing market has been rested with this stunner of an opening. To put things into perspective, I, even with all the negative web and poor talk all over, is going to cross the full run collections of Rajinikanth starrer Lingaa in two days flat. By the end of the weekend trade is expecting the film to be the second biggest earner among dubbed films only behind Robo.
Is the festive season a big reason for this opening? Or is the big budget extravaganza promotion done for the film a reason for this opening? There could be many such reasons but ultimately on the D-day it all has to pay which is exactly what Shankar has managed to do. Does this put the number 1 debate to rest?
