Victory Venkatesh’s latest movie, Saindhav, hit the screens during Sankranthi, but it didn’t quite make a splash at the box office. Directed by Sailesh Kolanu of HIT fame, this marked Venky’s 75th film, but unfortunately, it ended its theatrical run on a disastrous note.
The film is now available on Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam, complete with English subtitles. There was a small hope that Saindhav might redeem itself on the streaming platform, but the reality is quite disappointing.
Unlike some movies that find love on OTT despite a lukewarm theater response, Saindhav has faced criticism even in the digital realm.
Sailesh Kolanu is taking a lot of heat for missing the mark by such a huge margin despite having a fantastic cast, a big budget, and all the resources at his disposal. It’s being labeled as a snoozefest, with some viewers giving up after just 20 minutes.
While the first half was tolerable for some, the second half turned out to be a complete mess. Many are questioning the film’s purpose, criticizing the storyline centered around saving the daughter, only for the climax to reveal the tragic death of her. It leaves audiences wondering, what’s the point of the film? How can the hero’s victory over villains bring satisfaction when the daughter’s fate is so heart-wrenching?
There are also many who were disappointed that Venkatesh’s stellar performance was wasted on a seemingly senseless film. Ouch indeed!
