Scheduled for release on February 9th, “Lal Salaam” is a Tamil sports drama directed and written by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. The film boasts a runtime of 2 hours and 43 minutes and features an ensemble cast including Rajinikanth in an extended cameo as Moideen Bhai, alongside Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in lead roles.
Unlike the customary practice of unveiling both teaser and trailer, “Lal Salaam” has opted for a teaser-only promotion strategy. The film will exclusively be released in Tamil language, without versions in other languages.
Despite having a prominent star like Rajini associated with the project, who recently delivered a blockbuster like Jailer, the promotional efforts seem lacking, with the film set to release this Friday.
Promotional posters prominently feature Rajinikanth to attract attention, but the film’s awareness appears surprisingly low. This is particularly noteworthy considering the film comes from a reputable production house, Lyca Productions, and involves accomplished technicians such as A. R. Rahman.
Even with the opening of U.S. bookings, the response has been underwhelming. The trade feels that a well-cut trailer could have heightened anticipation but this strategy of releasing a film without a trailer is quite shocking, especially when the buzz is so low.
