Naga Chaitanya‘s Thank You is all set for release this week, and it is strange to see that most of the promotional campaign is built around Chay playing a Mahesh Babu fan in the film.

It is already widely publicized that Chay plays a Mahesh Babu fan in Thank You. The film showcases his journey from being a teenager to becoming a billionaire.

The film also shows how Telugu cinema evolved in the past few decades, and three blockbusters of Mahesh Babu, Okkadu, Pokiri, and Dookudu, are mentioned to do so in the film.

Naga Chaitanya has mentioned the Mahesh Babu angle in many of his promotional interviews, and writer BVS Ravi has also tweeted about the same. Akkineni fans are not happy with the way Akkineni hero is using the name of a superstar hero to gain some mileage.

Fans are saying that Naga Chaitanya comes from a legendary film family, and he is not someone like Nikhil or Nithiin who has to resort to such gimmicks of pleasing a particular fan base to attract footfalls at the theaters.

The makers must realize that doing bhajana of a superstar can never make any film a hit at the box office. It is always the content that is going to help in the long run.
