New release Srimanthudu has become the highest grossing film in the career of the star. It has overtaken the collections of Dookudu and is now number 1.
Coming to its place in Telugu cinema, Srimanthudu at nearly 60 Cr has crossed Allu Arjun’s Race Gurram to enter the top 5 of all time. By the matinee shows today (9th day) it would also have most likely crossed Gabbar Singh to become the number 4 film of all time. This is the first Mahesh Babu film to cross 60 Cr.
The race is now on for the film to enter into the 70 Cr club and it is after reaching that mark that things would be heated up. The collections of the film post the fabulous weekend and two partial holidays in the weekdays have shown a downward trend. It is helped in the second weekend by the Independence Day holiday but if the mid week trend of first week continues post the second weekend, it will be a touch and go scenario for the film to become number 2.
