Sultan Killed a Small Telugu Film?

Did Salman Khan’s Eid release ‘Sultan’ kill a small Telugu movie titled ‘Friend Request’? The makers of the film say ‘Yes’, and they also staged a fasting dharna to get the attention to the injustice meted to them regarding allotting theatres.

Since ‘Sultan’ was there ready for release, the small film was denied the promised theaters (30) and finally they were given only two shows to target multiplex crowds. This really sounds unjust. Aaditya Om and the producer Varma had protested against this injustice. The distributor reportedly had backed out due to ‘Sultan’s release.

Small films’ producers and directors alleging that big films aren’t giving theaters for releasing their films and the entire distribution, exhibitors and theater allotment system is controlled in a few hands, is nothing new for us. The fasting dharna of ‘Friend Request’ team didn’t make anyone to care.
