Superstar’s Director To Return Rs 2.4 Cr

It is very common for in-form and happening directors to take hefty advances from production houses even before their project materialises. And incidentally, when these projects don’t materialize, it is common for directors to default on returning the advances.

However, noted filmmaker Gautam Vasudev Menon has now returned his advance for a film titled Superstar.

Superstar was supposed to mark the collaboration of Gautam and STR. The project was announced in a grand manner but it didn’t take off for various logistical reasons.

The latest news is that Gautam has been ordered by Tamil Nadu High Court to return the advance he took for the film.

Owing to the order, Gautam will now have to return Rs 2.4 crores advance he took for the film. He will have to pay back the money to All In Productions who paid him the advance for this film.

The director has agreed to pay back the said amount between this coming Monday and Wednesday.
