Tamil star Suriya returned to the big screens with Karuppu which is dubbed and released in Telugu as Veera Bhadrudu. The film had a delayed release from the original May 14 slot and the advance bookings were extremely nominal as well.
But with the growing vacuum for Telugu audience who are rumbling due to lack of big hero films, this Suriya film found momentum.
More importantly, Suriya has appeared to deliver one of his biggest blockbusters of all time in the form of Karuppu.
Despite the problems before the release and lack of adequate momentum for advance bookings, Karuppu is turning out to be a winner. The numbers that are being published by the makers are projecting a very good trend all over.
According to the numbers that are in circulation from the makers side, this film has reportedly collected over Rs 145 crore at the global box office in the opening weekend.
This is a surprisingly good number for a film that came at a time when Suriya was in desperate need of success. It appears to be that the audience anticipation for big hero films has outperformed the mediocre content and weak reviews.
It is good to see the ever so talented and hardworking Suriya finally taste commercial success with this Karuppu now.
