The last big hit was Tillu Square, which was released on March 29. So, it has been almost a month and a half since Tollywood witnessed a successful movie.

Producers aren’t releasing films due to General Elections and IPL. As a result, theatres have become empty for the last 50 days without any business.

Especially, single-screen theatres have been experiencing huge losses due to the lack of business. Thus, single-screen theatre owners in Telangana decided to shut their theatres for the next two weeks.

They have reported significant losses due to low occupancy rates. Facing financial difficulties, they have decided to close the theatres independently.

They have asked producers to raise theatre rents to help revive their business. They plan to reopen the theatres once the situation improves.
