The ongoing dispute in the Telugu Film & TV Dancers & Dance Directors Association (TFTDDA) has taken a fresh turn. After the Raghu Master camp announced a new executive body, association president Sumalatha has strongly opposed the move and appealed to senior members of the film industry to step in.
Speaking at a press conference, Sumalatha said the newly announced executive committee was not recognised by her association. She questioned how the existing committee could be declared unofficial without any formal legal notice being served.
Sumalatha alleged that some influential people were trying to divide the union and said the present committee would continue to function according to the association’s rules. She also raised questions about the earlier allegations of Rs 36 lakh in financial irregularities and sought clarity on the status of the report.
What makes the latest development significant is her appeal to Chiranjeevi and other senior industry figures, including Suresh Babu and Dil Raju. Sumalatha said Chiranjeevi has always been respected by the dancers’ community and requested him to intervene and bring both sides together.
General Secretary G. Balakrishna also appealed for time and said the committee had maintained restraint for a long period. He recalled the financial support extended by Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan to the association and said they were confident that the industry elders could help find a solution.
The dispute has now reached a point where two groups are claiming the support and legitimacy of the dancers’ community. The next move from the Film Federation and senior industry members could be crucial in deciding how the issue is resolved.
