NC25: Will Chay Fit into Tharun Bhascker’s Crazy Universe

Tharun Bhascker made his debut with the big sleeper hit Pelli Choopulu. He later directed Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi and Keedaa Cola. While these films did not match the commercial success of Pelli Choopulu, they gained a cult following among young audiences over the years. Tharun clearly understands Gen Z sensibilities. His writing and dialogues feel natural and relatable without the usual grammar of Telugu films.

Right now, he is working on Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi 2. The shoot is progressing quickly, and there is talk of a Dussehra release. At the same time, industry buzz says he has prepared a story for Naga Chaitanya. Chay reportedly liked the idea and gave his approval, but Tharun still needs to complete the full script.

Currently, Naga Chaitanya is busy with Vrushakarma, directed by Karthik Dandu. After that, he is expected to work in a multi-starrer with Nagarjuna directed by Kalyan Krishna after Bangarraju. There are also reports that he may appear in Nagarjuna’s 100th film, directed by Ra Karthik. Once these projects are done, Tharun’s film with Chaitanya could begin. If it materializes, it may become Chaitanya’s 25th film as a solo hero.

Meanwhile, Tharun has also been active as an actor. His recent film Om Shanti Shanti Shanti released and flopped badly, and another film Gayapadda Simham is gearing up for release. Apart from directing Ee Nagaraniki Emaindhi 2, he also has an idea for Pelli Choopulu 2. It is not yet clear whether Vijay Deverakonda will return for the sequel or if a new lead will be introduced.

Tharun had also developed a story for Venkatesh, but that project stalled after Suresh Babu suggested changes to the second half. While he continues refining that script, Tharun keeps working on new ideas. Fans are now waiting to see when his project with Naga Chaitanya will officially begin.

Now, the big question is whether Tharun will bring Naga Chaitanya into his own quirky, realistic universe, or adjust his style to suit Chaitanya’s commercial image. That balance will decide how exciting this combination turns out to be.
