Ravi Teja has been consistently doing mass entertainers for some time now. Even though many of those films flopped badly, he continued in the same zone. Recently, he tried his hand at a family comedy entertainer titled Bhartha Mahashayulaku Wignyapti, which also did not deliver the expected results. After that release, everyone waited to see what kind of project he would announce next.
Surprisingly, Ravi Teja announced a film titled Irumudi, which immediately shocked many people. Audiences did not expect a devotional-based film from Ravi Teja, and curiosity increased further when it was revealed that director Shiva Nirvana, known for making heart touching emotional love stories, would direct Irumudi.
According to reports, Shiva Nirvana initially narrated the Irumudi story to Naga Chaitanya. After the success of Majili, both of them wanted to collaborate again. As part of that plan, Shiva reportedly took the Irumudi story to Chaitanya.
Sources say Naga Chaitanya liked the story but took time to arrive at a final decision. As the delay stretched, Shiva Nirvana chose to move on and narrated the script to Ravi Teja, who reportedly approved it immediately.
Another factor that helped the project fall into place is that both Ravi Teja and Shiva Nirvana were committed to doing a film for Mythri Movie Makers. This helped the project get locked smoothly. Naturally, this sparked discussions about whether Naga Chaitanya made a mistake by letting the script slip. That question, however, will only be answered after the film’s release.
Shiva Nirvana began his directorial journey with back-to-back successes Ninnu Kori and Majili. However, his later films Tuck Jagadish and Kushi failed to meet expectations, making Irumudi a very important film for him as well.
Meanwhile, the Irumudi announcement poster received a genuinely positive response across all sections. After a long time, a Ravi Teja project earned unanimous appreciation at the announcement stage itself. Now, the big question is whether this early goodwill and curiosity can translate into solid box office numbers when the film finally hits theatres.
