Tollywood roared back in September 2024 after a dull run through most of the year. Multiple releases struck gold at the box office, making the month a turning point for the industry.
The run began with Little Hearts, which grossed around Rs 25 crore. This lighthearted entertainer clicked with comedy lovers and gave the box office much-needed energy.
Soon after, Mirai and Kishkindapuri released together. Mirai stormed ahead with collections of about Rs 140 crore, while Kishkindapuri performed closer to the numbers of Little Hearts.
Together, these films raked in nearly Rs 200 crore, setting Tollywood up for one of its strongest months in recent years. September turned into a landmark period for the industry.
Then came the big release, OG. Early trends point to a massive Rs 100 crore global opening, one of the biggest for a Telugu film in recent memory.
Industry talk confirms that OG is headed towards Rs 250 crore, adding another blockbuster to the September list. This momentum signals a healthy phase for Tollywood.
Altogether, Telugu audiences spent over Rs 400 crore at the box office in September. In return, they enjoyed films across comedy, horror, mythology, and stylised action. It was a month of both variety and success.
