Sankranthi BO: Who Is the Winner?

Naa Saami Ranga Saindhav Guntur Kaaram Hanu Man

This Sankranthi had one big ticket release – Guntur Kaaram, and other medium-range films like HanuMan, Saindhav, and Naa Saami Ranga. As per the box office trends, HanuMan can be deemed as the clear winner in terms of Returns on Investment.

HanuMan reached the breakeven mark in the USA on the first day itself and has now touched $3 million. It is a largely profitable venture for the buyers.

In the domestic market, the film is turning out to be a smashing blockbuster. It is continually trending over other releases on Book My Show and the overall revenues in the Telugu states are beyond expectations.

In Hindi, it looks set for a long run with Rs 15 crore nett already and also exhibiting an upward trend. It is turning out to be a profitable venture in each and every market.

As for the biggie Guntur Kaaram, it made merry thanks to the Sankranthi crowds. After a bright start, it slowed down on the second day and managed to pick up on Sunday and Monday, directly benefiting from the festival crowds.

The real challenge will start today as the holidays are over. Its second-weekend performance will determine if it can reach the breakeven target. In the USA, it has slowed down considerably after reaching $2.35M. The numbers are below what was expected from a film of this combo.

Naa Saami Ranga is doing well domestically with 70% recovery in the first 3 days. It will yield profits to some degree to the buyers. Nag’s Sankranthi sentiment has continued with this film. It is a disastrous washout in the USA though.

Venkatesh’s Saindhav is a complete non-starter. It vanished at the Telugu box office and became irrelevant in the Sankranthi race.

HanuMan has put on an overwhelmingly good run at the box office and it is not showing down now either with excellent occupancies even today(working day(. Other films have slowed down big time.
