On September 3, as part of the National Cinema Day campaign in the USA, Karthikeya 2 was screened for just $3 per ticket. Due to such minimal pricing, audiences flocked to see the movie in a big way.
The film has emerged as the year’s top blockbuster in terms of return on investment at the US box office among all Telugu films. The other top grossers of the year are RRR, Bheemala Nayak, Sarkaru Vaari Paata and Radhe Shyam.
Other releases like Cobra, Ranga Ranga Vaibhavanga, and First Day First Show also did better on September 3 despite poor reviews due to the $3 pricing.
