In Andhra Pradesh, the government’s cinema ticket pricing regulations have taken a toll on theatrical revenues. The producer DVV Danayya is having to renegotiate the whole agreement with buyers in Andhra Pradesh and he might have to deduct the prices by at least 30-40%. Meaning, the film’s AP rights won’t fetch Rs 140 crores, as agreed initially. There will be a big slash in the tally.
On the other hand, the situation in the North India belt is looking even more dire. Delhi government ordered theatres to shut operations and Mumbai government has imposed 50% seating capacity restriction.
There are rumors that the Karnataka government is also planning to impose the 50% seating capacity regulation at cinema halls very soon. It that adds to the already tricky situation, things don’t look all that promising for RRR.
But team RRR is left with no other option but to go ahead with their release plan. A lot has gone into the promotional campaign and there is no going back now.
