For a while now, there has been an increased commotion against Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan for making remake films with a frustrating frequency. Even Mega family fans are not pleased with the remake-heavy lineups of mega bothers Pawan Kalyan and Chiranjeevi.
The disastrous reception for Chiru’s Bholaa Shankar is an overwhelming resemblance to the current mood of the audience. Pawan’s Bro did comparatively better but it too rang a warning bell given its box office run.
Incidentally, Malayalam superstar, Prithviraj Sukumaran commented that this is not the time for the audience to show any interest in remakes.
There is no better man than Prithviraj to comment on this topic as his directorial, Lucifer was remade as Godfather, and his starrer, Ayyappanum Koshiyum was remade as Bheemla Nayak. He rightly noted that considering the expansion of Indian cinema, the language barriers are elapsing and the audience are getting to watch every language film. So, the concept of remake has no sustainability henceforth.
It is perhaps time for both Pawan and Chiru to alter their ways and instead look to offer fresh and exciting content to the audience. Chiru has taken a step forward in this direction as he is making Viswambhara, a socio action drama. Pawan has Ustaad, which is proposed to be the remake of Theri, but other than that, he has OG and the long-delayed Hari Hara Veera Mallu.
