Yash’s Toxic is getting another version in theatres, and this one comes with a noticeably shorter runtime.
The English version of Toxic is set to release in India on September 4. Interestingly, the English cut is reportedly 176.52 minutes, or around 2 hours and 57 minutes. The version currently playing in theatres runs for around 3 hours and 14 minutes.
That means the English version is roughly 18 minutes shorter.
Toxic was shot in both Kannada and English, making the release different from the usual dubbed-language versions of a pan-India film. The English version is being presented as a separate cut rather than simply another dubbed release.
The timing is also interesting. Toxic is already in its second week, with the film facing a slowdown at the box office after its strong opening.
Now the shorter English version gives the film another opportunity to reach audiences, particularly viewers who prefer watching the film in its original English portions.
Whether the tighter runtime makes any difference to the viewing experience will be interesting to see. For Toxic, this is more than just another language release — audiences are getting a shorter version of the film.
