Venkatesh and Trivikram’s Aadarsha Kutumbam has officially moved from October 2 to October 9. The postponement was expected for the last few days, with reports suggesting that the makers had already informed distributors. The team has now confirmed the new date with a fresh poster.

Interestingly, October 9 falls in the middle of the Dussehra holiday season. The film will have several holidays during its first two weeks in theatres. In terms of the calendar, it could almost be a mini Sankranthi for Aadarsha Kutumbam.

However, the competition is not easy. Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 releasing on October 15 is one of the most awaited sequels and will naturally attract huge attention. Vijay Deverakonda’s Rana Baali is also releasing on October 16. Vijay is coming after a string of disasters, but Rana Baali is being presented as a different kind of film and could still create strong curiosity among youth.

That makes October 9 both attractive and risky. Aadarsha Kutumbam is a family entertainer, giving it a different audience base from the action films around it. If the content connects, the long holiday period can help the film bring family audiences to theatres repeatedly.

The biggest advantage is the number of holidays, not the lack of competition. There is plenty of competition. Aadarsha Kutumbam simply needs to start strongly and generate positive word of mouth. If that happens, the festive season can help the film maintain its momentum and generate big numbers.

For a Venkatesh-Trivikram combination, family audiences are the main target. If the film delivers clean and entertaining content that works across age groups, October 9 could turn out to be a very strong release date commercially despite the tough competition.
