A shocking revelation is sending shockwaves through the industry as legendary playback singer Udit Narayan has been accused of a severe crime by his ex-wife Ranjana Narayan Jha.
The 61-year-old woman residing in Bihar recently filed a police complaint accusing the singer, his brothers Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, and his second wife Deepak Narayan of plotting a non-consensual hysterectomy on her in 1996.
Ranjana alleged that she married Udit on December 7, 1984; however, just a year later, the singer moved to Mumbai and infamously married Deepa without divorcing her.
The complaint revolves around an incident that occurred in 1996 when Ranjana was taken to a prominent hospital in Delhi, under the pretext of a routine health checkup, where her uterus was allegedly removed without her knowledge or consent.
Ranaja recalls that she discovered the truth years later during an unrelated health checkup, leaving her in emotional turmoil.
She reportedly also described being emotionally and physically abused by the singer, including being denied entry at his Mumbai residence in 2006 and being insulted at his Nepal residence.
Despite previous court interventions in this matter, Udit acknowledged her as his wife and even promised to provide support; however, she claims that he failed to provide adequate maintenance, which left her in financial distress for years.
The complaint was lodged on February 10, 2026, at Supaul Women’s Police Station in Bihar, leading to an FIR for marital fraud, criminal conspiracy, and harassment.
On social media fans are distraught to see one of the most celebrated Bollywood personalities getting accused of such crimes, with users commenting, “Why are we getting this kind of news about our favorite artists nowadays?”
Udit has not yet filed an official response to this accusation, but sources close to him have revealed that he was providing financial aid to Ranjan and even filed an extortion case against her in 2025. Udit Narayan’s latest song Meesala Pilla from the Sankranthi blockbuster Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu was a huge hit.
