Unfair: Kiran Abbavaram’s Genuine Frustration

It’s really unfortunate that Kiran Abbavaram’s latest thriller KA hasn’t been released in Tamil Nadu, especially when it’s been doing well in the Telugu states.

Initially, a release was planned for Tamil Nadu as well, but it couldn’t get screens due to the packed schedule with other Tamil films like Amaran, Lucky Baskhar, Bloody Beggar, and Brother.

Yesterday Kiran Abbavaram expressed his frustration at the film’s success meet. He said he’s constantly reaching out to his producer to get even a few shows in Tamil Nadu.

He mentioned that fans from Chennai have been calling, asking why they can’t watch the film despite its success in the Telugu states. He’s been urging for just 5-10 shows if not more.

This is extremely disheartening. It’s understandable that single-screen theaters are limited, but what’s the issue with giving some shows in multiplexes?

The multiplexes could at least schedule a few shows in Chennai, especially the Telugu version. Many people on social media feel this is unfair and unacceptable.

We allocate so many theaters and showtimes to Tamil films in Telugu states, sometimes even sidelining our own Telugu films. That’s the love we have for cinema, but the same admiration isn’t reciprocated by other states.

A few shows in multiplexes wouldn’t hurt their Tamil films, especially for those Telugu films that have garnered good word of mouth. It feels really sad.
