Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is a very disappointed man looking at the meager allocations in the Union Budget tabled in Parliament on Saturday. The state is in a severe crisis due to the state bifurcation but BJP government ignored it right at that time. Political analysts are surprised at the plight of Chandrababu who once reigned the Central politics.
Going back to the past when TDP was a dominant force at the Center, the then AB Vajpayee’s government sanctioned more than 40,000 Crore to Andhra Pradesh between 1997 and 2002. During this time Naidu also got an airport sanctioned to the Undivided State. Chandrababu Naidu managed to get 10 lakh tonnes of rice through the Food for work program introduced then. It was more than all other states put together.
Telugu Desam Party used to have 29 MP seats back then which were crucial for the NDA government at the Center to sustain. TDP extended its support to BJP from outside and made use of the crucial role at the center to benefit the state to the maximum. But BJP is having majority on its own now at the center and so is ignoring Andhra Pradesh. Now Modi comfortably ignored all his promises and doing every thing he could to push Naidu down so he won’t get the credit.
