US Market Recovery, a Temporary Relief?

2019 was a forgettable year for Telugu Cinema with bad results dominating. US Market almost looked like going extinct with Amazon Prime Video preventing the audience from going to theaters. Experts even said that the makers may have to choose between the Overseas market or the Prime Business.

But 2020 brought cheer to the trade as soon as it arrived. Sankranthi Releases – Sarileru Neekevvaru and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo have set the Box Office on fire. Both the films together have amassed Five Million Dollars between them and counting.

That means US audience have spent around 35 Crore on both these films only.

This brings a hope that the audience will come to the theaters irrespective of the OTT Platforms provided the content is good. The next couple of months will see the release of a big bunch of small and medium Budget films. The trade will get an idea based on how these films fare in the coming weeks.

Sankranthi films will keep their Hopes floating. Meanwhile, Ala Vaikunthapurramulo has joined the Elite Club of Three Million Dollars Gross Films.
