Vijay Deverakonda Betting on Gen-Z Directors: Too Risky?

Vijay Deverakonda recently entered a new phase in his life after his much-awaited marriage with Rashmika Mandanna. He is trying to balance both his personal and professional commitments after stepping into married life. At present, two of his films, Rowdy Janardhan and Ranabaali, are already under production and are getting ready to release this year itself.

Interestingly, after these ongoing projects, Vijay has not been signing many new films recently. Maybe he wants to see the results of these films before signing on to his next projects. However, the latest buzz in the industry suggests that he may have quietly agreed to another project.

According to reports from industry sources, Vijay Deverakonda is planning to collaborate with director Shouryuv for an upcoming film. The project is expected to be backed by KVN Productions, who recently produced Jana Nayagan and Toxic. At the moment, discussions regarding the script and story are said to be underway.

Director Shouryuv gained recognition with the emotional drama Hi Nanna, which received a positive response from audiences for its heartfelt storytelling. After the success of that film, he reportedly worked on developing a new script and initially approached Jr NTR with the idea. Though NTR reportedly liked the idea, that project did not move forward. Later, Shouryuv also explored the possibility of working again with Nani, but the actor was reportedly busy with other commitments.

The director even pitched the story to a Tamil hero before eventually approaching Vijay Deverakonda. Interestingly, the new film is expected to be quite different from Hi Nanna. While his previous film focused more on emotional storytelling with a softer narrative tone, the new script is said to be designed on a larger scale and may include mass action elements.

Although there has been no official confirmation yet, industry insiders believe an announcement about the Vijay Deverakonda and Shouryuv collaboration could come soon.

Despite Kingdom’s disastrous result, Vijay seems to be still trusting new age directors like Ravi Kiran Kola, Rahul Sankrityan, and now Shouryuv. We have to see what kind of results these Gen Z filmmakers will deliver to Vijay at the box office.
