Vijay Failed Where Dhanush & Sethupathi Succeded

Dhanush’s landmark 50th film, Raayan, where he has not only acted but also directed, has hit the screens with extremely mixed reviews but good box office collections.

The film managed a worldwide gross of 24 crores on its first day and continued to perform steadily on the second day. The first weekend business is projected to be around 65-70 crores worldwide.

In Tamil Nadu, Raayan grossed nearly 11 crores on its opening day, setting a new first-day record for Dhanush, surpassing his previous best Karnan. This impressive performance marks Raayan as a box office success, despite the mixed response from the audience and critics.

A few weeks ago, Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja was released, marking his 50th film. The film turned out to be a smash hit, earning rave reviews and grossing 100 crores worldwide.

The film is wreaking havoc on OTT as well and has emerged as a true blue blockbuster in every sense. Sethupathi’s 50th film has undoubtedly been a major success for him.

However, not all milestone films have fared as well. Thalapathy Vijay’s 50th film, Sura, released in 2010, was a significant disappointment. The film was a huge disaster and is often cited as one of Vijay’s worst films, frequently getting trolled on social media to this day.

For other notable actors, Ajith’s 50th film, Mankatha, was a blockbuster, while Vikram’s 50th film, I, did big numbers but is considered only average due to high costs and weak content.
