Vijayawada had bagged one more dubious distinction being the third ranked city in the country reporting a large number of pedestrian deaths. The city had reported 130 such deaths in 2014. Only Bengaluru with 255 deaths and Kolkata with 203 are ahead of Vijayawada.
A report tabled by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) reveals this. Vishakapatnam is distantly following Vijayawada in AP cities with 58 deaths. Over all, there were 355 such deaths in Andhra Pradesh.

Compared to AP, Telangana seem to be much safer place for pedestrians. The newest state of the country just reported 96 deaths during the same period. Interestingly, Hyderabad five times bigger than Vijayawada just reported 5 such unfortunate deaths.
