VVIP status didn’t help Nag’s family

Sadly, both Akkineni Nageshwar Rao and his wife Annapurna have to succumb to cancer and one can imagine the trauma the family might have undergone during the last days of their parents, helplessly watching them suffer. Nagarjuna reminisces the pain his family had to go through to see his mother in pain during the final stages of her life.

Speaking to a congregation of International Conference of Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPCON-2015) in Hyderabad, Nagarjuna the guest of honour to promote Palliative care was seen turning very emotional. He explained the difference between the times of his mother’s treatment and his father’s medical care for cancer.

His eyes became moist remembering how his mother requested them to shift from hospital from home and the family had to undergo the ordeal of watching her suffering and despite the VVIP status, Akkineni family couldn’t do much but to watch her go through the pain. While in the case of ANR it was different. Doctors practicing Palliative care came to the rescue of Akkineni family and helped them to cope up with ANR’s situation and the result is that the legendary actor passed away smiling.
