WAR 2 Ticket Pricing: Genius or Sureshot Misfire?

With less than a week left for War 2 to release, early ticket sales are not showing promising signs. Coolie has already taken a big lead with around ₹45 crore in worldwide advance bookings, while War 2 lags far behind at about ₹5 crore. This is a significant gap for a film being marketed as the year’s biggest Hindi blockbuster with a star-studded cast. Despite the grand promotions, audiences are not rushing to secure their seats in advance.

Yash Raj Films, however, is not letting the slow start shake their plans. The studio has asked theatres to maintain War 2 ticket prices at the same premium level as Pushpa 2. The idea is to position the film as a major event release, banking on the star power of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, along with the advantage of a long holiday window. But for audiences, paying higher prices makes sense only if the film generates genuine excitement, not simply because the studio labels it as big.

This approach is not new for YRF, which used the same premium pricing strategy with Pathaan to great success. The stakes, however, are higher this time. The hope is that once bookings fully open across India, demand will rise sharply. Still, the current numbers compared to Coolie indicate that audiences expect more than just hype—they want compelling content.

If War 2 delivers high-octane action, engaging drama, and visual spectacle, ticket pricing will not be a deterrent. Until then, it serves as a reminder to production houses that audience trust is built on the quality of the film, not just marketing confidence. Ultimately, it will be the film’s own merit that determines whether War 2 emerges as a box office winner or falls short of expectations.
