M9 News Journalist Nishant sat with Ravi Teja’s Eagle Director Karthik Gattamaneni ahead of the movie release on January 13th as Sankranthi Special.
The Cinematographer turned Director explained how Eagle is not a serious film as people feel.
“I do not agree that people only consume light-hearted and family films for Sankranthi. But Eagle is not a serious film. It is an action drama that thoroughly engages. Even the action blocks are not tiring. There is some mood of suspense in the film. It has a John Wick kind of mood,” Karthik says.
He also disagrees with the perception that people do not accept Ravi Teja doing anything out of the box.
“I do not think it is a problem with Ravi Teja. I think it is a problem with the films. If the drama is not engaging, the film fails and people just say that. Actor like Ravi Teja is an asset for Eagle. The film will prove that,” he says.
Karthik also explains why young heroines are often cast opposite Ravi Teja.
He also adds that Eagle speaks about an important Global problem and how it is fit to the Cotton farmers of Talakona. “We are all directly connected to the issue. It is a Global issue but exists here as well. So, the issues do not look out of place,” he says.
We also asked him if Telugu filmmakers can really cater to the audience who are exposed to so many Action Dramas and Thrillers on OTT, why Cinematographers are not so successful when they become directors, etc
