Guntur Kaaram has two big names – Mahesh Babu and Trivikram which are more than enough to pull the crowds to theaters this Sankranthi. But the film opened to mixed reviews which doesn’t usually help the cause.
Guntur Kaaram had a bright first day at the box office regardless of the reviews, recovering nearly 30% of the total investment on the opening day itself. But there was a sizeable drop on the second day and at the same time, Hanuman picked up.
But Mahesh has this added advantage of family audience acceptance which is coming to Guntur Kaaram’s rescue now. The film has picked up the momentum from Sunday afternoon and reported many fulls across major centers across the Telugu states, particularly in Nizam region toward evening and late shows yesterday.
With festival crowds likely to lap up the film today and tomorrow, it is on course to have a very fruitful Sankrankthi weekend. The film is getting almost entirely benefited from the Sankranthi advantage, paired with Mahesh’s image amongst families. It was a very wise move to arrive this Sankranthi.
Despite the other releases like HanuMan, Saindhav and Naa Saami Ranga, the Mahesh starrer is getting the lions share of theaters which is working in its favor. We will get a clear view of its box office status towards the end of the second weekend.
In the USA, Guntur Kaaram has clocked $2.2 Million till now. The numbers are alright, but they are not quite in the range of what is expected from Mahesh-Trivikram collaboration.
