Why can’t we make films without item numbers

Telugu cinema is so attached to item numbers that it doesn’t want to make films without item numbers. Almost every other Telugu film of the recent past, doesn’t matter if its stars a newcomer or a superstar, has to have an item number.

Take all recent films such as Baadshah, Naayak, Dookudu and even upcoming films such as Bhai and Yevadu and 1: Nenokkadine have item songs. Aren’t we getting too used to item numbers. With so many youngsters watching films, wouldn’t it have an adverse effect on them?

Even smaller films such as Romance, Pustakamlo Konni Pagelu Missing and many more also have item number. Are item numbers imperative for films? I feel we are getting too used to such songs.
