Shruti recalled the hardships faced by women in the past and highlighted the ongoing struggles they still endure.

“Women have endured extremely difficult situations in the past, and even today, many women continue to struggle in society.

My mother, who was an actress, has told me countless times about the difficulties she faced. She even had to deal with hardships during her menstruation.”

“Many senior actresses, including my mother Sarika, have spoken about how women’s rights were ignored in the film industry. Equality was a distant dream. Women were given very little importance, not just on film sets but everywhere.”

“Back then, menstruating women were treated as outcasts. My mother has often shared with me how, in those days, even talking about periods was not an option.”

Women had no choice but to continue working while silently enduring discomfort. Compared to those times, there has been some progress now. Women can at least speak openly about menstruation and take a break if they are unwell.

This generation has created that space. If a woman says she isn’t feeling well and cannot attend a shoot, people are more understanding now.

However, while this is a relief, there are still many areas where gender inequality persists. Unfortunately, equality exists only on social media,” Shruti remarked.

Her comments have now gone viral, leaving many shocked at the harsh realities she revealed.
