The police have arrested 2 terrorists in Rayachoti, Annamayya district. The two have been identified as Abubackar and Mohd Ali alias Yousuf from Melapalayam in Kerala. Abu and Yousuf happen to be brothers.
The brothers were ‘missing’ for the past 30 years and are wanted in various terror acts. Tamil Nadu’s anti-terrorism squad took them into custody.
Abubackar has been absconding since 1995 and has many terror cases against him. He has been running a small kirana shop in front of Kottapalle Urdu School. He is called Kerala Kutty by locals. He attempted to kill L K Advani during his Madurai tour in 2011.
Mohammed Ali carried out a series of bomb attacks in Tamil Nadu and Kerala in 1999. He has a own house in Rayachoti’s Mahboobbasha road. He runs a clothes business apart from running a small kirana store.
The locals shared that both of them vanish for months at one go. When asked, they say it is for business, said the locals.
The police arrested them following a tip-off.
