manmohan singh Travel costs of the Ex-Prime MinisterThe nation had incurred 6,76,74,33,477 Rupees (Rs 676.7 crore) on the travel costs of the Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This information was revealed by the Prime Minister’s Office following an RTI query filed by Ramesh Chand Joshi, president of the Rashtra Rakshak Janmanch.

The reply from the PMO is regarding the details of the foreign visits made by the UPA Prime Minister Singh during his tenure as Prime Minister. The query also revealed that Mr.Singh during his second term, 15 out of the 36 trips were made when Parliament was in session. The Prime Minister will be flown to other countries in a Special Jet accompanying him are his Private Security, Bureaucrats and selected Media Representatives.

Man Mohan Singh was also accused of taking with him several costly presents received by him in official visits. According to the law, the gifts received in the official position belongs to the country. The highest expenditure that was incurred was from a 7 day trip to Mexico and Brazil costed Rs.26.94 crore in 2012. On the flipside, given the travelling rate of Narendra Modi in his current tenure, the NDA Prime Minister may end up incurring double or triple expenses than Man Mohan Singh!
